Was at range yesterday and older shooter had his model 54 out shooting says he bought it in 60 s new and had not fired 300 rounds with this gun. I cleaned barrel with Butches 4 wet patches quite a little of powder and then passed brush through 2 times removing brush each time to not draw back against bore and dry patched barrel'
gentleman fired about 15 shots at 50 yards using midas + ammo he then shot at 100 y and shot a 48 and 47 on a regulation hunter class target.with 1/2 bull for 80 years of age he did very good, considering he has had two stokes in last two years.
I fired his gun at 50 yards and had three in one hole but group ended up at .400" very fine rifle. I own a 1956 Rem 40x and have out shot a lot of Anshutz but this one would run all day against my 40x
He thinks he bought it new in 1959 but I don't think he has the year right.
Here are some photos showing serial # and stamping on barrel maybe some Anshutz owners could help in production date of this gun.
Also what would he expect to get for this rifle he has all the original aperture sights front and receiver
Thanks in advance for any helpView attachment 57269View attachment 57270View attachment 57271View attachment 57272View attachment 57273
