Looking at an Anshutz Model 250 177 caliber. Has original sights and palm rest. EXcellent condition. It appears it hasn't been shot for a while, Is there any maintenance that should be completed prior to it being fired?

If the gun has not been serviced recently, it will most likely require replacement of the breech seal and the piston buffer.
Additionally, the oil filled recoil damper will probably require a reseal as well, If the damper is not presently leaking oil, it soon will, as the internal seals break down.
A proper re-lube of the power plant, and oiling of the trigger mechanism would also be beneficial.

I was looking at one of those a number of years ago, did a bunch of reading online about it. There did seem to be a number of issues that were commonly encountered by owners, stuff I never would have thought of, like the "oil leak" mentioned above.

The gun had a definite air of "neither fish nor fowl". It has the look, the bulk and the weight of a recoilless rifle like the FWB300 series...but it's not entirely recoilless. It fires at a low fps, I believe something like 600fps, which is preferred for target shooting but very low for most other purposes, and yet it still requires a PAL to purchase. In the end, the info I found steered me away from buying the gun.

I'd suggest doing a lot of research before committing.

Will watch the video, thanks, ..... my guess is not something I would try, however I do have a friend who is very handy with firearms.
I shot the rifle this afternoon, cheap pellets, took some getting use to the very light trigger pull, however my 3rd and 4th 5 shot groups at 25 yards both had 3 shots touching. Gun is no doubt more accurate than I can shoot using the peepsights and 75 year old eyes. Bought it for $400 with a two gun hard case. Another toy if nothing else. Nice to able to shoot 20 rounds without a single complaint from neighbours.
