antique .303 martini metford

Wow! fantastic find, I have a Martini-Enfield Carbine of some sort, however I think she's a long rifle cut down to size. I haven't shot it because I want to have someone take it apart and realign the cocking indicator and have a good look at her before my first shoot.

You can't realign the cocking indicator. It only goes on one way, as it's part of the tumbler.
My concern is that the cocking indicator should be vertical correct? If you look at my picture it doesn't seem to be in the correct position, what would be involved in putting it back in the right place? Or is it fine as is?

It does indeed do that but when un-cocked it is in the position in the pic and it go's forward by a few degree's. There is nothing wrong with this?
