Out of curiosity, is there a cartridge out there similar in size to .36 cal that is classified as antique? I like the .36ish bore and am thinking of searching for a prescribed antique that fires this size of metal cartridge. I know that 38-40, 38 SW and 38 Colt are not allowed in antique status handguns. Anybody know what is?

The 9.4 Dutch uses a .381 bullet and shell is made from a shortend and necked down .41 magnum. John Pullen has one for sale in his shop in Victoria, for $500. The shell is fairly weak.
I think you are looking at things backwards; when you see a gun, check the caliber to be sure it is not one of the relatively few exempted calibers.
