45-90 brass
Track of the Wolf is REAL good about shipping things like the 45-90 (Starline) and their price is reasonable. I shoot 40-82 WCF in my grandfather's Win 1886 (which was shot out by BP but which I relined with a liner from Track of the Wolf) and while I can get 40-82 brass , its easy to make from 45-90 by simply annealling, lubing well and running through the 40-82 sizing die. I also have a four digit serial number Win 1886 in 45-90 which is a hoot to shoot! Nice part about that is you can also shoot 45-70 out of the same gun. I've not experienced any problems doing this, but also work at keeping the chamber clean. I got 45-90 dies for a reasonable price on eBay (providing of course eBay police will still allow those nasty reloading dies). Good luck with the 45-90 - remember it was designed as an "express" cartridge therefore seems to work nice with the 300 gr bullet rather than the 405. Load it up hot with the 405 gr and you know you're shooting a "thumper" - not anything like a 300 Win Mag, but still a good thump.
