Just received this from a major US auction house:

I just wanted to let you know, Homeland Security has changed the laws
with regard to shipping firearms (to include antiques) internationally.
From this point forward, any firearms purchases (modern or antique) will need to be shipped to a licensed exporter
within the U.S. for transfer.

Regards,

USA auction houses are known for not wanting to ship up here.
no changes as far as i know.

Well something had to be done to stem the flow of crusty, 100 year old relics to Syria and Iraq from Canada.
If it prevents just one ISIL/ISIS member from trading in their AK-47 for a .577 Snider-Enfield battle rifle, then I support this initiative.

Well, there you go eh. Big Brother looking out for our best interests again. When do you suppose he'll start asking whether we need this sort of "help"?

This kind of "help" you mean?

Sounds like anyone importing an antique firearm from the US runs a risk of having it seized by the Dept. of Homeland Security if not done through a licensed exporter.
