If an owner or previous owner of an antique gets a call about a lettered antique do not speak to the Police. They are compiling information to use against you and if you are contacted get in touch with Solomon Freidman via here;
Make this issue known! There is a reason that so much is happening at once. With the other firearm reclassifications happening this has nearly gone unnoticed and can easily pass if it doesn't receive attention and pressure is politically applied. The time to fight this is now. Spread the word and get your friends, family, and co workers to read and sign a letter, postage is free to send, apply political pressure.
Stand together with the owners of the current (and future) reclassified modern firearms! It doesn't matter if you have no interest in those firearms or don't hold a valid PAL, if the owners of those firearms lose their firearms you can rest assured there is little hope for antiques. The owners of the reclassified firearms need your support as an antique owner, and you need theirs. *************My letter*************
Dear Right Honourable Prime Minister Stephen Harper;
It has come to my attention that the RCMP Firearms lab antique division, officially known as the Specialized Firearms Support Services Section (SFSS), has changed their internal policy in regards to antique status firearms and altered the Firearms Reference Table (FRT) to reflect this change in policy.
Ever since the ' Regulations Prescribing Antique Firearms - SOR/98-464 -CRIMINAL CODE - Registration 1998-09-16' was drafted and in force since Dec 1, 1998 the SFSS has allowed antique firearms to be converted to a caliber that is different from the list of calibers that would eliminate the firearm from antique status. This has been done so from the interpretation of the wording 'designed or altered' meaning that altering an antique firearm from the list of excluded calibers legally grants the firearm antique status. The SFSS has recently changed their policy on issuing antique status and the accompanying letter of proof to exclude firearms that were originally manufactured for an excluded caliber, even if they have been altered to a legal antique by changing the caliber.
This decision in policy from the SFSS has cost the owners of these antique status firearms greatly by devaluing their collections. It could also potentially cause the owners to face charges of possession of a restricted, or prohibited, firearm as without the proof provided from the FRT number that existed prior to this change in policy. These owners are within the law and have followed the law at great expense and it would be a great tragedy to persecute them for being law abiding and honest.
The internal policy of the SFSS is not the law. The policy of the SFSS should not be able to persecute law abiding antiques owners. Law abiding antique owners that have been peacefully owning and using their property since 1998 should not potentially face criminal charges due to a change in policy that is not supported by law.
I respectfully request that you redraft the Firearms Act as promised prior to your being elected to government. I request the redraft to remove the Firearms Act from the Criminal Code and to have balance in it so as to not punish the law abiding firearms owner with prison or confiscation of their property. With the redrafting of the Firearms Act I request that you remove the Firearms Lab and SFSS from the control of the RCMP, and place control into an impartial Civilian lab with built in checks and balances with secondary Civilian oversight that has the power to veto decisions made by the Firearms Lab and investigate personnel.
With this redraft of the Firearms Act I respectfully request that you change the law governing antique firearms. I request that you change the law to include all firearms manufactured prior to 1899, of any caliber, of any action, and to include features such as internal or detachable magazines into antique status. This would streamline and increase trade of antique firearms with our biggest trading partner the United States as it would coincide with their laws. This would also stop the persecution of law abiding antique firearms owners and hobbyists, return the value of their collections, and free the owners from false charges for owning property that has been considered legal since 1998.
Thank you for your time and consideration into this matter. I assure you that should you act on these matters you will consolidate my vote and financial support for well into the future.
Respectfully yours,

Persons directly affected by the prohibition of the Swiss Arms series, or by changes to the rules affecting antique handguns should contact Solomon Friedman at Solomon@edelsonlaw.ca or by phone to 613-237-2290
Anyone angry at the decision of Public Safety to approve these "re-classifications" upon the recommendation made by the RCMP should be writing and meeting with their MP.
