Antique Flintlock price

I have a buddy who has a 1700-1720 black powder musket, possible british origin. 6 feet long flintlock and possibly a 68 to 75 cal smoothbore?. I was wondering if anyone could give me an average price range or if there is anyone who could give an apprasial. the weapon is a family heirloom. will add photo's asap. What would a "brown bess" be worth, say, in good shape?

There is no way that an estimate of value could be made based on this information.
IF this is a British service musket, 1700-1720, and it is complete, intact and in decent condition, its value would be substantial. If it iof this period, its not a Brown Bess.
An early "Long Land" musket, the first general type of Brown Bess, in nice intact, unrestored condition is worth thousands. The last version, the India Pattern musket, in excellent condition is worth less, but still valuable.

The catch is however that there can be considerable differences between countries and between regions within a country, in how much any given gun will sell for.
