Well as some around here have likely noticed I've been making custom made holsters. Now before going into full on production I'd like to know what people would be looking for so I can focus attention on and stock some of the "best sellers", while of course offering custom made one of a kind pieces to those looking for something special for their iron to ride in.

All production can be made to order, made in house and with premium materials. Right or left hand can be accomodated, colours and tooling patterns can be customized. No corners will be cut, if I wont put my own iron in it I wont release it for sale.

Of course for now no prices will be released other than to say they'll be priced in line with current market prices, but for that price these will be handmade custom pieces. I don't want to talk price here otherwise the thread will get moved to general business announcements. I'll make a new thread there when I'm ready to release prices, or if you're looking for something before then PM me ;). Right now I'd like the attention of the antique crowd in order to better gauge market interest.

So what's everyone looking for? Examples of past works, guns obviously not included;

Off the bench and on route to the new owner. SAA right hand, hand tooled, cartridge loops on belt and hoster made for 7 1/2" barrel.

Didn't notice my wife, who very graciously was the model for these shots of which I'm very thankful for, put the belt on upside down. Guess I was distracted by the model :D. Too late to alter that as I didn't notice until I sized the photos and it's on route to the new owner. I'm sure you get the point though ;).

Can you do a retention snap or something? I had a real sweet holster made by a guy but the belt came out too damn small and was unwearable. Be nice to upgrade from my Oklahoma Leather one I currently have. Do you also do IWB type holsters?

ETA, can you use black or dark brown thread?

Can you do a slim jim for SAA? Maybe a retention snap or something? I had a real sweet holster made by a guy but the belt came out too damn small and was unwearable. Be nice to upgrade from my Oklahoma Leather one I currently have. Do you also do IWB type holsters?

Yes to all of the above. With the points to make;
  • If you look there is a retention loop on the hammer in the newest SAA holster just above your post. If desired a retention snap or other retetion method can be patterned.
  • IWB can be done. Depending on the model if I don't have the frame on hand I may need to find something to pattern off of.
  • Thread colour can be specified, no other colours currently on hand but anything can be brought in and made to order.

Can-down; PM on route, I'd like to keep this thread in the antiques section and not general business so prices will currently be discussed via PM. A post in general business announcements will be made shortly with pricing.

Thank you for the compliments :D.

As an owner, of some of Loki's finely crafted pieces, I can certainly vouch for both the excellent workmanship, and fine aesthetic.

Great to see you doing this! I do have a S&W, that will need a holster, some day.

Wow that is some very nice work, it is nice to see craftsmanship like this is still around. Now I just need to pick up something to fit in one of those holsters.

Yes, nice looking work!

As a CAS competitor that leans towards the traditional, I would recommend getting a copy of "Packing Iron" by Richard Rattenbury. You might have to look for a copy on the net.

There's a couple of factions in CAS, one historical, the other being the more modern/50's Hollywood look.

You might also consider signing up on CasCity, a site with a lot of sub forums, one being leather work. I see a lot of good work there by talented people, one of whom made me a garrison belt to accept my regimental buckle and a matching Patton-type holster for my Colt New Service. These guys are good about answering questions and offering tips and advice on various techniques.

Getting some plastic or metal 'non-guns' for moulding and shaping would make things easier as well. The guy that made my 'Patton' actually made a wooden mock up to fit the holster! That's dedication.
