Uh, right.

The Indian Rebellion, also known as the Indian Mutiny, took place in 1857.

I think that you may be confungling your facts with the American fighting the Moros, about 45 years later. Where this DID happen - but with the .38cal revolver, not the .36cal - a BP type. This lead to the adoption of the .45cal semi-auto pistol.

Even the ".38 caliber" revolvers are just .36 cal. :)

Indian Mutiny and Philipines/Moros mutinies were two separate incidents that taught the same lesson.

Old expression , close your mouth and be assumed a fool or open your mouth and remove all doubt . In 1854 the British Admiralty ordered 4,000 Navy Colts in .36 caliber and the British Army ordered 5,000 of the same . Between 1851 and 1857 there were 9,000 private sales of Colt revolvers to British people of guns both manufactured in England and the USA . The British military only issued revolvers to selected officers , mostly in artillery units but any officer could carry one if he bought his own . Many of the private sales were .44 Colts to officers or to family members who would then ship them to India . If there is anything else you require schooling on i'd be happy to help .
