Gorgeous pieces. Don't have any of my own, but I wouldn't mind collecting one or two... Know of any good sites where I could buy military swords? Preferably German or British.

Of course there is some historical value but nothing like 16 th to 18th century folded blades made by famous makers. Those are now next to impossible to export as they are considered national treasures by Japan.
If they are military issue they are just carbon steel blades not folded.
That's a nice place to browse..thanksThere are still places where you can buy them.
Here is a webpage that sells high end "stuff".
I personally have not order anything from it (yet) but I been following them for 6 or 7 years now (or longer). Swords from 1500,1600,etc go anywhere from 5k u.s to gazillion dollars. From what I seen, it all depends on traceable history and smiths signature (but this can gets very confusing)

They have email antique update that you can subscribe. Pictures and background history (when available) are top notch.
Even if are not planning on buying anything.
Cheers,
Some Chinese used similar looking swords and I don't know how you can distinguish them. I remember seeing a photo of two Chinese executioners in a 6 month binding of Harper's Illustrated, from the late 1800s. One person had a large broad sword that looked like a meat cleaver on steroids and the other had a long narrow sword that looked like a samurai sword
