This one is an early Christmas present to myself :), an antique Colt 1873 Army model, circa 1890 chambered in 45 S&W(schofield).

APU, you know how to pick them!! That is a beaut for sure, and in a prime antique caliber as well. I have your Colt's buddy, a Colt artillery, also chambered in 45 Schofield. Frame serial number puts it at 1882. Here is a photo ...

38 Special conversion so perscribed antique.
Its hard to find Colts that shoot to point of aim.
This one has adjustable sites at the rear that move side to side and up and down + it has a floating fireing pin supose to have a perfect action to.
Might keep this one as i really like it and most guys dont like long barreled SAAs
So merry Xmass to Me! :p

outstanding Colt !

dingus...........you always seem to come up with interesting guns, this Colt is a good example... converted by Christy who I'm guessing is a gunsmith, any background info on this guy????
What date was the frame built as it has the earlier slotted screw cylinder pin retainer.
Any idea when it was converted.

What a wonderful way to legally circumvent the prohib BS. Get an antique lettered 1873 Peacemaker and get a gunsmith to screw in a period correct calibre short barrel. I always wanted a Colt Sheriff's 3"er in 45 Schofield. Hey Dingus is that doable? What would the cost be?

Bob Christy is pretty well know in the USA as one of the better gunsmiths that worked on SAA colts.
he formed Christy Gun works im not 100% sure on the exact date tho 1950s and 1960s is close i think.
most of his work was to build 44 Specials so im happy to find a 38 Sp as its not very common looks like he installed King front sites on the barrel to.
He made up the barrels and cylinders for his guns with special attention to the chamber throats his cylinders were better accuracy wise than factory colt cylinders.
I love the sights the best as theses sites make aiming alot easyer. the front site will have a polished back edge the back one set up to fit the front nice and square.
This one will be cheep and easy to shoot useing factory 38 Sp.;)

Yes the barrel could be as short as you want. Not sure what the cost would be Christy aint around anymore thats why i buy and collect his guns.

Over/Under 40 caliber/12 gauge.

This came in the mail today! I had to post it just to break the monotony of antique handguns..... No manufacturers name or proof marks so I guess its an orphan? The bores are very good. The rifle bore has had a liner installed in it so it looks almost new.

Cheers, Steve.

Ohh, ...... and so very elegant.:)

Possible a couple close-ups?, so's we can figure out how it works?.:D

Here are some more pics. The gun has 2 triggers and 2 hammers. To fire the twelve gauge you simply #### the hammer and pull the trigger. To fire the 40 caliber rifle the hammer is cocked and then the set trigger is pulled thus enabling the front trigger to fire it. I might be shooting it tomorrow. It has a set of sights installed now so I should be able to hit something....

Cheers, Steve.
