http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/fs-fd/antique-historique-eng.htm has the information you are looking for. For the points you are looking for it states:
Under the Firearms Act and corresponding regulations, antique firearms must be stored, displayed and transported unloaded.
Antique handguns must be transported in a locked, non-transparent container that cannot readily be broken open or into or accidentally opened during transportation.
So if you store the antique pistol it must be unloaded and does not need to be locked. I lock mine up like a restricted as I don’t need a hassle. And if you transport an antique pistol it must be locked in a non-transparent container. Again I put the not required trigger lock on it because I don’t need the hassle.

- the regs will not protect you if you just put a trigger lock on an antique and toss it in a blanket....Antiques are the ones you can legally store - unlocked - in your sock drawer.....
Lock 'em in a secure case for transport though- the regs will not protect you if you just put a trigger lock on an antique and toss it in a blanket....

Is it legal to store my antique handgun unlocked in lets say a night stand with ammunition not in the gun but in the same night stand also unlocked?
Im not implying anything Im just asking a question regarding the legality of doing something
Count on being charged with careless storage of firearm & ammunition under S86 of the Criminal Code, losing all your firearms, firearms prohibition & 25-50K in legal costs. My advice - keep antique pistol & ammo locked up.
you dont by law need to keep either locked up but its not a good idea to keep them in the same place (if your in a deep sleep your not going to hear a guy sneaking up beside you and then he will find a gun and ammo for it)
