spud for lanyard on bottom of grip
wooden carved grips
Proof mark oval with E at the top and LG below then a star below appears to be belguin black powder proof mark
engraved and silver inlaid on frame and cylinder
no makers name or any other marks
do I call the CFC
a google,similar gun in US made 1864 from Belguin

I would post a picture of it before you call the cfc and get some good advice here on if its antique or not.

If its a pinfire made before 1898, I'm pretty sure it qualifies as a antique.

You have made two definitive statements; pinfire plus the Belgian proof with no crown over it. The proof is pre 1898 and the pinfire means it is not one of the named centerfire pistol cartridges. cc84 1(b) and SOR 98-464 qualify it as an antique.
