So now that we have a BP and antiques EE Ive got a question...

Does this mean I can post my antique revolvers in the Antique/BP EE and the Pistol/revolver EE? or would the mods slap me with an infraction for double posting???

...it would fall into both categories.

The correct category would be the Antique/BP EE, and since you are only allowed to post in one forum, that would be the one.

not to be the kind of guy to say "I toad a so" but I "toad a so"

Do not worry Dingus, no one is to say one way or another if the revolver your selling is a "deregistered antique" or "deregisterable" put it where ever you want.

Further to a point there are at least a hundred threads in BP alone that ask "is this antique?" obviously the great unwashed don't have a clue any way. Be a lot of work for the mods trying to keep track of pre 1898 serial numbers so they can move ads from forum to forum.

Can't wait to post a 1898 yugo 8x57 mauser and my mdl 1894 winchester in the new thread. Way more people will see them there and because they are antique (1898 right?) then they are worth way more and I don't even have to call the CFC to do the transfer. 8 and 30 are greater then .323 so I am good right?

The best is gonna be when some liberal party wendy funding wanna be starts monitoring the thread and forwarding our great pics of no liscence handguns to thier team leader.
Antique regs are as they are because for decades the trade occurred over gunshow tables, through mail order auction catalogues and between collecting friends. Now in Canada you can go to Gun nutz or to a head shop in alberta and buy an unregistered revolver. I am pretty sensitive to sustainability and this will not be sustainable. Better get your shootin irons now boys cause the sheriff is gonna be thundering into town any day now.

P.S I am sure CGN made this decision because they figured it was the best thing and I do appreciate they take the time to make this a great firearms forum. keep up the good work.

the issue is not how many hits but how many effective hits you get. There are many guns that I view out of curiosity with absolutely no intention of buying. You might make the same criticism of including the number of times the add has been bumped to the top --- more than once and you know the gun is overpriced.

I assume you are writing tongue in cheek because both are magazine guns plus at least one is not over the 8 point something minimum caliber

I never knew I needed a 71 mauser, a CZ858 or oddles of other guns till I saw them for the first time. From a sales potential perspective it sucks not being able to advertise handguns to guys that like handguns and sporting arms to guys that like sporting arms and milsurps to guys that like milsurps. Education is part of the sales process.

Well its there now so im Trying it out.
So far the amount of hits woulda been close for the amount of time the Add is up.
Also it would be Halfway down the Revolver page by now if it was left in the Modern Hanguns section.

Anyway as long as it dont fill up with WTB adds or Looking For this Adds bumping stuff thats for sale to the bottom it might be ok.

To Use the Modern Hangun or Rifle section just list your gun as Pre 1898 in the Tital,
not Antique.
By law theres a big diffrence.
I figger being as the Mods went to the troble to set it up we can give it a whirl.
Im Not a big fan of the Change tho LOL

just had a look now that the mods have swept everything in there it is place that I am sure will get lots of traffic. LOL. who knows when another over priced pitted bore 32rf might show up.

Kind of reminds me of a bad gun show table that never changes.

those 1885 highwall replicas and that 45LC lightnening are pretty marginal but might as well throw them in here too. Hey If your gonna play play fair. Get to work mods.
 
Yes David im Agreeing with you i think its Sucking big time.

I did mention at the Start of this Idea that so many of you insisted was a great idea that i Did NOT like it But would give it a try.

Well it started Out OK but theres just Not ENOUGH Antique or BP Guns to make it worth while.
I go away two days come back and the Same WTB 32 Add is up.
This is not Good.
Even the Knife EE gets more Adds.
 
I think the low number of hits reflects the relatively few people who are in the market for antiques. That highwall for example has been around for some time and is likely to remain unsold for quite a while yet. Not that the gun is not potentially an accurate rifle but it is too expensive for most people wanting to buy a unique antique that they can shoot mostly for fun. I still haven't figured out what the colt lightning is that David is talking about.
I definitely prefer the separate section for black powder and antiques; it saves me a lot of time looking through modern stuff that is of minimal interest to me. There is such a volume of guns going through the modern categories that unless you check a couple of times a day, anything of interest is buried within a day, more or less never to be noticed again. You might get lots of hits from looky lous but those for the most part are out of curiosity rather than any intention of buying.

The blackpowder and antiques EE section is slower, and smaller than many of the other sections, but the ads don't get buried under the vast numbers of modern and modern design firearms. I don't think it's time to scrap it, after a week or two.

The blackpowder and antiques discussion section is smaller and less active than many of the other discussion sections too, but I don't think that it's any less important than shotguns, or sporting rifles, and I don't think we should fold it into the other categories either, just to make the "thread views" counts go up.

Lets not go off half-cocked. After all, dingus likes it...

I agree with mooncoon. Price is definitely an issue.

If you've noticed, guns that are several hundred dollars, or even a thousand dollars or more take alot longer to sell than guns.

That's in ANY category. Not just antiques. I've noticed nice high end olympic style target pistols and rifles sell very slowly too.

I'm not saying those firearms aren't worth the high end cash, but we're just not all made of money.

Not so much Now tho.
Selling a Antique 455 Revolver isnt that Hard in the old Handgun EE either.

Im looking at the Amount of listings and watching the Views.

I guess its the Little Frog in a big pond or Big frog in a small pond kinda thing :D
 
did that overpriced deer stalker ( just 50 bucks more then SRP) and double barreled flintlock just get a free pass on waiting a week to BTT by combining ads. Oh wait I guess don't matter cause it is still all on one page. LOL
