Antiques/BP EE

are we serious another day with no new posts. no one is looking at this ####*Y EE thread.

YYOu 'all know this new EE thread has seriously devalued our collections. Last week we could advertise to 20, 000 people now we can advertise to bobbyironsights.

odd that the guy who has soaked up the most free advice has undermined the hobby the most.

10 posts complaining about the same thing is the wrong way to go about asking for change.
I suggest david doyle and smokepole , go back and read rule # 3 , about personal insults.
Whereas other members discussed the pros and cons about the new E/E forum. The responsibility lies on my shoulders for asking to have it implemented.
You should consider at the very least an apology to Bobby !

I for one thank you for setting the section up. I fully intend to post there after the Courtney gun show; I would rather sell to someone I can see in front of me than someone across the country.

I also note that david doyle does not appear to have posted any guns under that name in the antique section so I can't understand what he is sniveling and whining about.

The bottom line is that something will sell for what someone else will pay for it --- there are two expensive rifles now in the antique EE that do not appear to have sold but they also did not sell in the hunting gun section after several BTT. There are also a couple of modern muzzle loaders priced at the very top and then some, of what they would sell for locally and perhaps not unsurprisingly they have not sold. Other guns have sold and I personally feel disadvantaged if I have to post an antique in with the modern sporting rifles.

Again I thank Bob for setting up the black powder and antique section.

I also like it mine didn't sell any faster in the old EE either at least now I know there not getting lost in the pile
 
I supported nessy357's request for a BP and Antiques EE section. I believe it has a place.

Perhaps the few vociferous naysayers might like to hold fire until a reasonable period of time has passed.

I have never been strongly opposed to the new EE for black powder and antiques - I read it daily. I think my ads have had as many hits as they would have if placed elswhere. Time will tell.
I too would like to see more action in there, more adds and better prices, etc., but remember this is Canada. There just aren't that many antiques trading hands and most people who have antiques or anything custom or unusual will want to start at a price that reflects the difficulties encountered to obtain the guns here in the North. Read that as $$$.
Pay to play - its worth it anyway. Antique guns aren't cheap anymore and the new laws are driving the prices up. If the caliber restriction list was lifted the prices would fall, as more antiques would be available. Every time a newbie is intoduced to the sport, the value of the old guns rise. New people are introduced at a rapid rate in this time of electronic information.
I wish I would have bought a truck load in the past.
 
One idea is to post the antique gun or pistol in the other section, but also post a link in the antique section to the posting in the normal section. That way:
1. a lot more people might see it and,
2. those of us interested in antiques can monitor the antique section and don't have to sift through a ton of non-antique ads
3. My last antique S&W was posted in the normal section and was purchased by a fellow who had no antiques before, and may not have bought any otherwise, so there is merit to having it posted in the normal section, with a link in the antique section.

Of course, this is a double posting and the moderators may not agree with this idea.
