Any 25-06 fans here?

I once built a 25-284 with one of Bevan's barrels. I put 46 rounds thru it at the range first trip out. Break in?....what's that?...:)

It shot very well and is out there somewhere. It's on a 1969 short 700 in a grey Boyd's laminate.

shot great with 260 Remington ammo too, so I heard....

25 caliber cartridges , the 250 Savage is the best of the bunch

RJ, I am not sure what happened with his equipment. All I heard about is the barrel deep hole drill, and button rifling machine went to the same place. I wish I could have afforded the equipment myself!

I sure enjoyed the conversations with Bevin! He had a great sence of humour! And so many interesting stories!

Thk ! I heard he was a Nice Fellow ! :) RJ

Just too her to the range today. 25/06 at 25 yards two shots into a 6x6 wood stud, both with exits smaller than a dime. Hornady whitetails 117gr. Crazy!

I built a 25-06 Ackley on a 98 mauser. Great rifle for deer and black bear with 100g Sierra game kings. I would use it for moose and elk with 120s anyday. It has replaced my 270 almost completely.

Perhaps the best deer caliber to be had. Used one for best part of 20 years, more one shot, DRT kills than any other I've ever used, mostly with Federal Premium 117 Sierra Gamekings. Only reason I parked it is that here in these parts encounters with a griz was a real consideration...and lately are becoming all too common. My .300 WM is a tad bit more substantial for that sort of thing. But for whitetails and muleys I don't think it gets any better.

An excellent option for ammo, IMHO, is Fusion 120s, very good quality bonded bullet, very accurate in my Rem. 700 Varminter.

Just bought one in a ruger mkII all-weather off another member here back in the summer. Shoots Great! Puts nosler accubonds and silver tips into an inch at 100m and clover leafs with 90 Winchester hollow points. Slipped it into a canoe paddle stock I had on my 338 win mag and installed a timney trigger, now it's ready for deer and coyotes in any weather! Can't wait to try it out this deer season!

Love the 25-06 such a pleasant round. I've had one Remmington and two River rifles chambered for it over the years. My current go to deer and coyote rifle is Ruger M77 Hawkeye. Love it to pieces.
