Sorry to copy the previous thread but a good question always leads to another. I don't own a chrony but if anyone has shot a 300 wsm with 168 gr match bullets ( Hornady ) or similar any sharing of info of how fast they are going and what load you were using would enormously helpful as I am tuning in a long range gun with this round.

It is pretty tough to plot out a trajectory without some numbers.

Thanks in advance

~3100 fps w/ barnes TSX 168's. Load was with RL19 and Fed GM215M primers. I'll PM you the charge weight when I can go out to the garage and check.

You're gonna need to chrony the load yourself, unfortunately. Put the same ammo in another rifle and you'll get different velocities. It may not be enough difference to affect trajectory, but it likely will be if you're working on a 'long range' rig.

Buy a chrony already! They're cheap like borscht, no excuse not to have one these days.

True. My load was 80fps slower in a Win70. But for ~drop calcs, the above should help.

How does that cartridge push some of the bigger .30 bullets, and what kind of accuracy do you guys see out of the big WSM? I am shooting a .270WSM as a long range 'rig' (out to 1000M!) so that I can also hunt with it and still stay within a local caliber limit.

Keebler,
I have a .270WSM and a .300WSM...
Stick with your .270
it shoots a wee bit flatter than the .300, and has plenty of energy.
I havent loaded over 180gr bullets, but the 180 Sierra's are very tight.
I seem to have this luck with Sierra.. all their bullets shoot good, except in the .270WSM ( 140grBTHP)... its all over the place. I gave up on it.
165, 168 and 180gr Sierra's are great in my .300WSM.
I cant speak for 200+gr bullets though...
