Hi CGNers :)

Since it is so cheap to get bulk of 7.62x54R ammunition and spending all thousands of rounds solely on Mosin Nagant could lead me to boredom.

Wish I could get SVD but it is banned in Canada and I'm not that hooked to stv guns.

So I'm looking for something that can be par with m305/m14 but in 7.62x54R.

I ran across this rifle.

VEPR 7.62x54R Rifle from WPA

It looks like AK variant and read somewhere it's prohibited but can't find its name on prohibited list.
Any idea this rifle is legal in Canada and possible to acquire with affordable price?
If not, is there any other semi auto rifle shoots 7.62x54R and look cool?

Yes, prohibited as an AK variant.

There is the SVT-40 though.

He said he was not interested in the SVT but if someone made a decent aftermarket scope mount it would be a whole lot more versatile , i have a super accurate SVT that would kick ass long range if i could mount a modern scope on it without drilling or ####ing the rifle up ..

sigh..Guess I have to wait another decade and see what other option might shows up or law might change..

Don't just "wait and see" make your thoughts and demands known to your representatives and encourage all family and friends to to the same. There was an old shampoo commercial that went, "She told two friends and they told two friends and so on and so on and so on."

Writing letters to MP's and the Prime Minister is effective only if we all participate in that activity and not just "wait and see".

Mine kicks-ass at reasonable ranges with irons. The SVT-40 is simply an ass-kicking kind of firearm.
Reasonable = Right out to about 250-300yrds

I think the Medved-3 is chambered in 7.62x54r also but it seems this dealer has only .308 models, he might be able to bring in 54r rifles too . very expensive though .. http://interammo.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=32_33&products_id=75

Holy crap! $2500!
Got my SVT for $400 in mint condition.
I'd get paranoid everytime I got a deal on corrosive 54R.

theres the burkut 2m1. its not on the prohib list(suprising tbh) and there aperently still in production by tula arsenal but i for the life of me cant find out where to get one

all the info i can dig up points to it not being a varient of anything but a stand alone rifle ment to be sold to the public as a hunting rifle

Meh, svt40 is, and was a flawed design. Its a niche rifle largely popular because of its apparent cool factor. This coming from a red rifle milsurp lover too.

SVT-40 is a rifle that fulfills most of your requirements, and is currently legal to own in Canada.

If you are waiting for a change in laws in order to purchase rifles that are prohibited at this time, you might not live long enough to see that happen.

Why not enjoy what you can?

... and while you can.
