Any AR owners of 300 blackout and 5.56/223?

At the local range, they don't have any AR's in 300AAC.

Just wanted to know what the recoil difference is?

I've read some people say is like 50% more, and other people say is barely noticeable.

What's your experience?

Thanks

I have two AR 15 with 7.5 inches barrels....one in 556 and the other in 300 Blackout...same buffer ...stock etc.....just different uppers....no difference in noticeable recoil

I have owned 3 different semi auto's in 300BLK and have no idea how many semi 223's. I find the recoil of the 300BLK to be smoother than 223 and approx the same when it comes to actual overall force going into your shoulder.
I love 300BLK :)

Where do you live? If you're anywhere near Edmonton you can shoot my NR ACR. I have no more AR's in 300BLK but I have a NR conversion for my ACR left in the collection and a Rem 700 AAC-SD in 300BLK. I can swap the ACR back and forth between 300BLK and 223 in a minute for a back to back comparison with everything else being identical.

Thanks man! that's very nice of you.

I'm in the lower mainland.

Looking at maybe buying a 300BLK AR

Thanks for the info

.300 Blk is a great cartridge capable of excellent accuracy out my usual "plinking" ranges of <400m. Like others in this thread I have 7.5" ARs in both 5.56mm and .300 Blk. The .300 Blk is by far my preferred cartridge in barrels of less than 12" as the muzzle blast and flash are not nearly so obnoxious as the 5.56 which burns most of its powder outside of the muzzle. I find the recoil to be virtually identical.

I like the idea of slinging .30 cal rounds downrange out to 400m with 5.56mm recoil so much that I bought my SIG Virtus in .300 Blk instead of 5.56mm. Now I am waiting on SIG to ramp up production of the shorty PDW-length .300 Barrels and Handguards....

You guys using subs or supers in your shorties? Can you get the subs to cycle properly with standard spring and buffers?

I feel as though bullet weight may matter. My experience with 300blk is very limited, but I perceived slightly more recoil shooting both 150gr super sonic loads and 220gr subsonic loads.

YMMV.

the difference between a 223 and a 300 bk
is like compairing 9mm and 40 or 9mm and 45

it does make a difference in felt recoil if you change barrel length -- even if you shoot a 223 -10 inch barrel vs 223 20 inch barrel - with the same ammo

I haven't shot conventional AR15 too much in 300 blk, but out of a 9" MCX 300 blk definitely has more feel recoil. Remind me of shooting blow back 9mm AR. There is a solid push on the shoulder, but not necessarily muzzle rise.
