Hi all
I picked up a Tokyo Arsenal (1912) Type 38 Arisaka in 6.5x50SR earlier this year, that is arsenal matching apart from the dustcover.(unfortunately, the mum is ground off). This rifle has taken part in some major battles judging from the battered stock and pitted bolt face, but the bore is in surprisingly good shape. I'd like to take it out to the range, but the 6.5 Jap is a very obscure round...anyone have any luck with sourcing live rounds or reloading dies? I can find the brass and bullets at the local gun show.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hornady loads it, and I've picked up a few random boxes from smaller manufacturers here and there at larger gun shows.

Loading dies will be a $pecial order.
Hornady doesn't list 6.5 Jap. Norma does. Epp's is a Norma dealer. Won't be cheap. Ask 'em about dies too.

there is a gent on this site call "msg.drew" , he's a dealer and he can get you set up with dies. I think he can order brass as well. if not Elmwood epps , another dealer , can get brass.

is the dust cover matching or a repro? if it's matching they usually don't rattle and fit well from what i've seen.

i reload 6.5 and apart from a heavy trigger. i noticed because of the heavy trigger i end up shooting the right because i was pulling so hard and with so much of my finger. it's a good gun. Long barrel too so keep it clean.

let me know if you are looking for accessories and I can pass you onto a gent who knows his stuff.
