Read a lot of comments on Remington Marine Magnum. How about it's close relative, the 870 Express 18" barrel. The price is very reasonable and some people use it as platform to build custom home defense gun. Any experience you want to share?

I have one. Bought it with the +2 extension on it. Had problems with the action locking up but it's been taken care of. There seems to be a problem with the newer 870's locking up like this. The older expresses were fine. I now use that action with a 28" barrel and the +5 extension for IPSC.

I love mine :D:D

Wow, both guns looks great. Can you folks tell me where to get the stock? Is it easy to install?

My stock is a Knoxx Spec-Ops that I bought from a CGN sponsor :)

Very easy to install, one bolt :)

Stock reduces felt recoil by approximately 54%

Remington 870

:) .... My 870 is one of the "Deer Hunter" versions with the factory rifle type sights. Added a magazine extension and sling swivels. Replaced the factory "safety" with a lager one, and added a bright orange magazine follower. Action is smooth as snot, very reliable and the 12 ga. is tough to argue with, in a "social setting" ! ...... David K.

I got my stock, Knoxx Compstock w/hogue foregrip from a CGN sponsor too!

Check out Questar in the header, Mark is great to deal with.

The Compstock is real easy to install as well, hardest part was figuring out what to use on the notched locking nut to remove it (did not have the correct tool, so used the claws of a hammer and it fit perfectly).

You will love the 870, just watch out for the cheapy ammo (Wally World bargain stuff), does not like it and binds.

any 870 is good , but the newer express guns are getting cheper made by the year.
i would buy a marine mag if the finnish is not an issue.
it about the best made 870 you can get.
if you want a tac/ defencive shotgun tou must have a side saddle good iron sites (wilson combat) a single point sling atachment from S&J Hardware aka badboybeeson :)
and a single point sling from one shot tac aka farmboy.
This is basic kit i would have for your shotgun.
I,ve built lots of combat shotguns over the years, as have others and the 870 is the best gun to do this with.
