Any bolt 7.62x39 bolt rifles out there?

I shoot Czech/Russian ammo through mine. It'll be a very long time before that barrel wears out and it's easy enough to spin a new one on. The Ruger bolt 7.62x39's are very accurate like the CZ's.

BTW, NAA are those the original irons sights? Mine never came with them and I don't recall them ever being factory. Could be wrong.

I no longer hunt, so 'course it would have to be just target. ;)

I haven't worked up a load for my Ruger yet. But I do have 4 boxes of Hornady 123 gr .310" bullets to go thru at some point. After I make some brass for it by shooting off some factory Winchester whitebox 7.62 x 39mm ammo I have, now that I have 'er in the spankin' new stock.

How about norinco ammo?

not sure if i can justify buying a $800 riffle for cheap ammo, would rather get a cheap .223 and a bunch of ammo.. but Ill keep my eyes out in bst

No, the iron sites on my Ruger aren't factory original. Someone had them professionally installed prior to my purchase of the rifle. The rifle was otherewise "like new" when I got it, though.

It's such a cool, handy little rifle it's kinda relegated to "keeper" status at this point.

Try some .308 bullets. More accurate in mine as the barrel is .308 bore. These old guns were made back when Ruger gave up the XGI project and had a ton of .308 barrels to use up.

Mine is collector status at this point also and still a tack driver and mint condition. I don't think it's seen more than 200 rds. I have other guns in the same caliber that get shot more.

When I'm not using the cheap ammo my Ruger all weather M77 MkII in 7.62x39 is the most accurate out of the box rifle that I've had, 1.8" 5 shot group @ 200m with Federal 123gr SP. Kills deer no problem.

I have the same Ruger M77 rifle (stainless, boat paddle synthetic stock) in 7.62x39. It has a 308 barrel. I have found a real difference in handloads vs commercial ammo. My stock rifle will shoot 1/2 inch- 3/4 inch at 100 yards with 25.2 grn of IMR 4198 with the Sierra 125 grn. Sierra Pro Hunter #2120. The Sierra manual lists 25.0 grn of H4198 as the accuracy load with the #2120 bullet.
 
My Ruger has the odd misfire but a second strike will light it off. Also after fair number of rounds (maybe 100 to 200) the extraction becomes sticky until the lacquer from the steel cases is cleaned from the chamber.
 
Have not had any light strikes with my Ruger M77. My wife's CZ 527 had the odd one at first, but doesn't do it any more. No light strikes with my converted Remingtons and Mauser in this caliber too. Guns get cleaned regular so never a chamber problem with milsurp.
That reminds me, I need to sell that 7.62x39 Swede Mauser.
