Hello all, I was wondering about a Browning BAR .270 semi auto, Belgium made. These are from before my hunting time, and I don't know much about them, or what one would expect to pay either. Any opinions on one, or personal experiences or even a rough idea on price would be muchly appreciated. Thanks in advance

I did own a BAR Mark II in 7mmremmag for a brief time, but after it jammed twice in cold wet weather despite proper maintenance,it was soon sold.

BAR is one of the best among all semi-auto hunting rifles. I have the ShortTrac version which is 1 pound lighter than the standard BAR.

Touch wood, I don't have any issue with it.

I have had 3 Belgium BARs.
They are very reliable cyclers, & well built with good hunting triggers.
The 30-06 was accurate, the 308 was incredibly accurate :runaway:, the .300wm would only shoot 1 1/2 on a good day :(.
They are also heavy with a finger fumble clip system
I sent them all down the road.

A friend of mine has three of them. Two have the boss system. He never had a problem. The accuracy is truly amazing.

A Browning fan.

I have a bar.belgian 300 wm,and I love this unit.Taking it for elk on the 15 dec.I also have a 280 s/s that is a tight shooter. As far as the clip system goes, they both work fine.I guess if I were a truck cowboy I might not like the clip system. When the time comes to make your shot, the both of them are ALWAYS cocked, locked, and ready to rock!! Regards Brian.:shotgun:

I used a 270 BAR for years on moose. One of my hunting partners has been salivating over it for a long time. I told him I'm giving it to his son who just passed his hunter safety. If he's good, his son may let him touch it...:p

I have as BAR Safari in 25.06 and it operates flawlessly. I get better groups with it than my Tikka 25.06 I had before it. The BAR is the only centerfire semi I would own., at least as a hunting rifle anyway.

Does this mean the PacNor and Marlin stickers I have on my truck are a bad idea too? And wouldn't "Burglars" want to mess with someone who DOESN'T have rifles in their house...?

I dont see many at the range but I do see alot of stickers on trucks....lol..

Amen...lol and so true! :p

...but then again I guess that's better than all the lame generic "Orange County choppers" or "Tapout" window stickers. If you can buy'em at Crappy Tire you just know all the kewl Sheeple will have 'em.
Mad Mikey.
