I just picked up a well used Sig P220 today that's pretty nasty dirty in and out. When I field strip this thing is there any product anybody can recommend to soak the frame in? Looks like someone dragged it behind a jeep in the desert.

Thanks

Make up a jug of Ed's Red, an effective (and cheap) homemade cleaning solution. Recipe is on the 'net. Varsol, Dextron ATF, acetone, kerosene in equal parts.

The only thing is doesn't do is remove copper (and lead) fouling.

You can make such a big batch for cheap that you could just drop the whole gun into it.

"...won't hurt the frame?..." It's not a polymer frame. Take the grips off, field strip and drop the whole thing into a tub of solvent. Leave it there for a few hours, then clean off the crud. Repeat as required. Lets the solvent do its job.

CLP, it can be bought at canadian tire. it uses teflon that gets under the carbon but leave the part for 5min to let it do its work. you know it works good when it can give you cancer. (use gloves)
