Any current good deals on .223 / 5.56 Nato ammo ?

Hi everyone,

I realize there's a sticky thread on 223/5.56 ammo but the information seems dated.

I was wondering if some of you might share any current good deals on .223 / 5.56 NATO ammo you may have uncovered.

I'm really enjoying my AR-15 and I'd like to find some reasonably priced ammo for it (I'd be willing to buy a case)

I'd rather not buy junk but it's only for punching holes in paper at relatively close range
(max 100 yards) so it does not have to be special in any way.

Not many deals to be had anymore since the Norc surplus dried up... PMC sometimes goes on sale, but the sponsors are pretty good about posting threads when it's on. Apparently BassPro had Federal Tactical on sale, but there's none of them around here and shipping kills the deal...

There is supposed to be a very large Bass Pro shop coming to the new mall new the Tsawwassen ferries. Doesn't help for now, but I think it is opening around April/May 2016.

I see you are in QC? Too bad, I was in Saskatoon this morning and dropped into North Pro Sports. They have Hornady Steel Match 55 gr HP. Washed steel polymer coated cases. $29.99/ 50 rd box. I bought two cases (1,000rds). They had 3 cases left after my morning purchase.

TulAmmo is good in some rifles but not others. Bushmaster, Norinco/Polytechnic and Dominion Arms will have hard jams after 100 rounds or so. You can try Barnaul, Wolf or MFS if you have one of these rifles.

Weird, I ran 300 odd rounds of Tula 62gr hp through my Norinco upper AR on a PGL course with no issues at all

Nice it works in your rifle. My Norinco M4 had multiple hard jams after approx 120 rnds Tulammo. Happened more than once and one time at competiton. Unsatisfied not knowing if it was the rifle or ammo I found out why. http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/brass-vs-steel-cased-ammo/
