I Have been looking everywhere, trying to find the perfect rifle, one that I would fall in love with. The problem is, I went to the local gun shop, shouldered a few and I'm not 100% Happy with any of them. Some of them, I love the action but I cant stand the look. Others I love the look, but aren't made in the Caliber I want. Then I find the Caliber I like, but the barrel length is too short for my taste, or only comes in a synthetic stock which I personally don't like. So I went online, Again, the same problem minus the fact that I cant shoulder them. I'm starting to think the only way I will be 100% happy is if I make my own.

Has anyone taken this rout? Did you have much luck? How much did you end up spending?

custom

What is it you are looking for, that you can't find? Wood or plastic, barrel length, caliber, action, weight, what combo really stikes your fancy? I have many custom and semi custom rifles, but pretty much anything you can ask for is available out there in a factory form somewhere, from $800-$18,000.

I spent about $3000 and got what I want. I got a wood stock with the action I like in the caliber the factory doesnt make. Sights was what I picked and I love the gun. You can go cheaper or way more depending what you want.

That's about what I spent having a couple built the way I wanted.
Picked the stock blank, action, barrel length, type of safety etc....

And very happy I did, I got exactly what I wanted.

Ball park I was looking was about 3-5g so it's good to see that its doable for that price. I was looking for a 7mm rem Mag in a Mauser action with a 28" Barrel. I really like like the Sako Bavarian stock, I wouldn't mind seeing that in a Laminated finish. Out of all the manufactures I checked out Sauer probably comes closes to what I'd like to see in my ideal rifle

I cannot say enough good things about Corlane in Dawson Creek and the Rocky Mountain Rifles. I was in the same position.

Chose a Mod 70 CRF action, a lilja barrel, wild cat precision stock, in 270 WSM. Shoots 0.3 to 0.4 inch 3 shot groups with 130 gr Barnes TSX and R22. Topped with a Zeiss. There are now dozens of other rifles that sit in the safe because I do not want to carry anything else. There has not yet been an animal that has been looked at in the crosshairs that has not also seen the bbq! Give Tim a call. He will hook a brother up based on amount you are willing to spend.

40 years of hunting and when I finally had a custom rifle, I wondered why I did not do it sooner.

I bought an action from Ian Robertson, barrel from Obtunded, Mick McPhee stuck them together, and Ian sunk it into one of his stocks.

The nice thing about having several people work on the rifle is that the invoices can be kept separate and never, ever added together.

I spent a few months collecting parts for a rifle build. I won a rifle in a poker game (Ruger M77), poker winnings paid for the barrel, stock and the smith work. So I could say it cost me nothing to build my custom rifle. I think my next rifle will be a lot more...........

Pseudeo, you can get pretty much you want if you order a custom Copper rifle, give Clay a call at Phrophet River, and you can have the gun of your dreams! DZ!

I wish I was good enough (or dumb enough? :p) at poker to bet rifles....
