Any custom nickle plating shops around?

Have you looked at the Caswell Plating Supply site yet?

It'd be a DIY option, but less headaches than trying to convince someone that does not deal with firearms to deal with firearms parts.

Best of luck. It seems to come up here a lot, without much in the way of resolution.

They have (had?) a distributor in Ontario last I knew.

They offer both materials or full kits for Electroless nickel, or electroplating.

Not sure what the power supply needs are for electroplating, aside from DC, and adjustable. Like as not, you are going to have to do some math based on the square inches of surface to be plated, to get a handle on that.

My brother has a shop called Southwest Forge in Summerland BC and they have all kinds of baths including nickel. If that is not convenient check places that make high end kitchen hardware and such.

An edit here I was half asleep when I posted above. I meant to say check out the webpage and the various finishes are displayed. One of them may be what you are looking for. They are not a gun shop.

I replied to your message Willy Tincup but have a feeling it did not get there. Still learning the site.

I was reading on one of the sites that chrome plating produces a bluish tint while nickle plating produces a yellowish tint so it would be unlikely to get a good match [between cylinder and frame] using a chrome plating process.......or so it seems.

Yes; a nickle plated revolver that has to have the cylinder replaced; can't buy a nickle one so hoping to have a blued one cleaned up and nickled.

Just heard back from Gunnar at Armco and they no longer do nickle plating........have 2 names of firms in BC [thanks to CGN members] and will pursue one or both of those avenues.

I used the one in Vancouver B.C they did a good job but when your taking to them they dont like the word Gun or firearm used.
But they do good work i have the name wrote down some where i think.
Its in Vancouver B.C
You gota polish the crap outa the parts your getting done if you want it to look good i had a 10 inch buntline colt barrel redone it looked really good but any imperfections at all will show thru.
And nickle gets added to places you might not want it to get added so putting stuff back together is not easy.
They can plug holes and stuff but you better explain exactly what you want and dont want nickled.
