Any dealers carry Wilson Shok-Buff?

Like I said, the only place I could find in a quick search is MidwayUSA and they don't ship outside the U.S.. Any leads are appreciated.

You're taking about a 1911 shock buffer right? There's been lots of talk in several threads as to the uselessness of these and that they just create problems. Here's a recent thread.

Here is the thing, I am not using it in a 1911... I'll try it out and see for myself. For the price I won't be worried about them causing problems.

I use them myself, but replace them shortly before the plastic is torn to shreds.

There are other makes that are made of translucent plastic that seem to hold up better.

While I agree that Wilson is a quality brand I think in the event of them being useless the short answer to your question would be "to make money"...

Big problem with some 1911 springs is that they are too long. They bunch and run into the slide coming back for example. Putting in a shock buff will make that worse.

Depending on what you want to accomplish with the buffs but one isn't enough really. I always run two at a minimum if I run them. Running three (depending on the make - different widths and types of materials) might make ejection a problem.

Tune your spring properly - you won't have an issue.

If the recoil spring in the gun matches the ammo you are using the shock buffer is useless!

If you have an old beat up spring or a light spring in a target gun, and run hot loads then the shock buffer will do something, but it is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist! Change out the recoil spring often enough and you will have no issues.

1911's have been around a hell of alot longer than shock buffers and they worked just fine for thousands of rounds.

It is simple marketing that makes these things popular.

You buy a brand new custom 1911, and you want to do everything you can to make the gun last forever, and with the simple suggestion that these will help, a million are sold!
