The 105's are a secant ogive VLD the 108's are a conventional tangent ogive boat tail. Anyone who has played around with the VLD's knows how sensitive to seating depth they are. They can drive you crazy. Usually the VLD's like being hard into the lands .015+++.
The 108's were designed to be less sensitive to seating depth and to work for those needing to load for magazine length. The tangent ogive is much more forgiving. Also some shooters don't want to fool around with seating depths since their interest or usage don't demand that kind of attention to detail.
If you're single loading, and the VLD's are working for you perhaps you won't want to try the 108's. However you may be surprised to find that the 108's may just outshoot your favorite VLD load. You'll never know till you try a box.
I'm always looking for that extra little edge that may shrink my groups or add a point to my scores so I've been guility of trying every new bullet that comes down the pike. So far I've found the 108's can run with the VLD's and in some cases outshoot them.
