Any Decent Spotting Scopes for ~$200

Not looking to count the hairs on a fly's ass at a thousand meters, just something with variable magnification that'll give clear target images out to a couple hundred meters or so.
 
The bushmaster 20-60 seems ok. I spot with it to 1300 yards (Watching swirl not seeing holes) There is and a pretty clear advantage to one in the 500.00 plus category though.
 
Spend the extra $ on a scope?

I have a tough time warranting the cost of a spotting scope when my rifle scope is just as good or better. It does lack zoom though.


Basically optics cost a lot of money. Often the lower end stuff isn't worth buying.
 
Should have added its for use with the Tavor (RDS only), so no rifle scope, on those rarer occasions I shoot it for longer distances.

I know it's out of your price point, but there was a x33 Razor HD spotting scope listed on the EE awhile ago. While being about 3x your price point, it's a wicked little piece of glass.

Do you have any other rifles with glass on them? If so, considering just packing those along with the Tavor for shot viewing. If not... then I'm running out of ideas. I'd try to avoid the 200$ spotting scope.
 
I hate to haunt the EE as there's so much else there catches my eye that I want and I have little will power LOL!
 
I bought a Bushnell Trophy XLT 15-45x a couple of years ago for under $300. It works OK for 30 cal out to 200 yards. So far that's as far as I have tried.
 
you need a bit more than $200, really. my C90 Mak does just fine.

the Acuter scope I mentioned does a damned fine job because the price isn't inflated to cover marketing and warranty costs. it come with 2 years of warranty, but if you treat it well, warranty shouldn't be an issue and at $250, isn't much of a loss if something does happen. so, due to the savings you're getting a scope that punches well above it's weight. the store I work at as a hobby job sells 10+ a month.

fully water proof. armor coated. 20 - 60x eyepiece on an 80mm lens. it's not light. it's not heavy but it works damned well. :)

For reference the Razor HD x 60 x80 will quite easily see .223 at 200y. It's also 2000$, but can be found for 1400-1600$ on the EE.

The little x33 Razor HD, while not huge magnification shares similar glass at a fraction of the cost.
 
Try to find an old Japan made Redfield fixed 25X. I have one and I can see .30 cal holes at 300 yards...but no further. I bought it for $200

For my needs, I need to see hits at 500 and the only scope I have looked through that showed them at that range was a friends 80mm Swarovski ($$$$).
 
Thanks for all the input, picked up a Bushnell Trophy XLT 20-60x65MM for $240; comes with a nice lockable foam-lined hard case, soft case+strap, and tripod.

Yeah I got the same one, I paid 190 for it. Has a sunshade in it too if you pull the front part forward. My biggest complaints about it is the front rubber cap and well the eye relief is not bad, But better then the celston I had. Its heavy so I didnt find that the wind moved it much.
