Colt's are uncommon and pricey because they use Distributors for their rifles, instead of dealerships. Too many middle men, plus export fees makes for expensive rifles. Pretty much the only thing keeping the brand going in Canada is the reputation for quality.

99% of the firearms in this country come through distributors.
In fact, I believe that the majority of Colt rifles coming in to Canada are via third party import by dealers, they know the guns are coveted and hard to come by and price them accordingly.
I was under the impression that Colt Canada was barred from making civvy sales in Canada as a condition of its gov contracts.
One beef that I have about the Colt MT6700 is barrel twist rate being 1:9, I would much rather see 1:8 or 1:7 so that I could use some of the heavier bullet weights available on the market. Also, the MT6700 does not come threaded and to do so after the fact does affect the resale price of the rifle.
That being said, I love shooting mine. The trigger is probably the best of any rifle I've owned.![]()
