Any Druganov's around?

we have some dumb prohibs and restrict. alot dont make sense. making more stupid and useless laws just drives more guns underground, and limits our buying of great rifles. would like to know what else THEY decided we aren't allowed..and there are rumors of more guns turning restricted or prohib.

Nope, different internals, and very few parts are compatible with each other.
Prohib' by name only. Which is a real shame IMHO.
Stupid liberals. Things gotta change soon I hope. Dragunov no different than a non restricted M14 really except for looks. Again stupid liberals.

I would have said SVT-40, but that's just me.

Also, I'm just throwing this out there, but there isn't really a good reason for us not to own AK pattern rifles, either. 'Just saying.

If money is not an issue whoever wants a Dragunov can pick up a valmet and get the dragunov stock and pieces,it should be the closest you can get without a 12(5).

What kind of valmet?
Could you show a picture of an original and a dragunov converted?

The Valmet hunter is the only non-prohibited AK variant in Canada

More info can be found here:

http://www.valmet.org/valmethunter.htm

I have yet to see one furnished with Dragunov stock but sure it can be done however the cost can get pricey

There are some members here own Valmet and as the matter of fact there are a couple for sale and here's one from EE

I know the internals are different, but that's never stopped things from being classified as prohib before. It looks sorta like an AK, so it's an AK... to Liberals...

From the Prohibition Order:

* The firearm of the design commonly known as the AK-47 rifle, and any variant or modified version of it except for the Valmet Hunter, the Valmet Hunter Auto and the Valmet M78 rifles, but including the:

(a) AK-74;
(b) ...
(l) Dragunov;

So it's named as a variant, even though it's, IMO, not...

The convertion seems to work only with the model m-78.

With the hunter model shown here:
http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=399401&highlight=valmet

It seems that there are no space behind the trigger for pistol grip...

And I must agree that it would be the better rifle for that kind of convertion.

I think you just gave me a goal to reach... :stirthepot2:

Agreed!

This hobby can get expensive especially if you have good taste!:D

For now I will just play with my bolt guns and M14s.:(

So whats the going rate for one in Canada? Anybody have one for sale?

Navy Gunner

The Valmet hunter goes for around $3k in the used market I have yet to see a Valmet 78 for sale so can't really comment on how much it worth.

However, anyone willing to drop some money for one might consider import one from the States.

I remember several sponsor dealer here willing to do all importation paper work for a nominal fee.

Just another option to think about.

East German

I have two East German Drags' with all the accessories. Russian parts kits assembled by the east german military.
