just recieved a few of the 10 round xcr mags while waiting for my 7.62x39 ar to get approved. these things are stiff, it is REAL hard to load rounds into them, and when loaded even harder to even push a round out. i know they are new and all but is this normal? any tips to get them worked in?

It's normal until the springs are worked in. First take them apart and make sure that the spring is properly seated in in the follower. If the spring isn't seated properly it can make for tough loading, especially that 10th round, and can cause rounds to nose-dive into the mag-well instead of sliding up the feed ramp properly. Leave the mags loaded for a while when not in use on the range to compress the springs and work them in passively, and don't listen to the armchair operators about ruining your mag springs by leaving it loaded, it's a myth. I also recommend getting something like a MagLula speed loader, makes loading "large capacity" mags faster and easier. No loader's thumb.

Other than that, simply using them is the best method for working them in.

I bought 5 7.62x39 mags, and 4 of them were hard to load but all 10 went in. The 5th mag was a bear, no way the 10th would go in. So I left them all loaded as they were. A couple of days later they all took 10 rounds, it still takes a bit of effort but they fit. The 7.62 round is thick and stubby, sort of like me. When you push down on the round to load it, make sure the base is nicely squared up with the mag, and push more on the base end of the round.
