Any experience with the Lakefield or Savage 64?

I think the biggest thing, as already mentioned, is to keep them clean. Someone in another thread some time ago also mentioned that he runs his almost dry as far as lubricating goes.

They are great fun and at short ranges accurate, past 50 and definately past 100 they leave much to be desired

But as short range gopher guns they are a blast

My Savage 64 FVXP came with the heavy barrel from the factory. It does shoot good! As for keeping it clean, I clean it thoroughly and only keep it very, very lightly oiled. The next time I tear it down, I will try graphite as substitute lube.

My Savage 64 has served me well. I have the 64FSS model actually. Very accurate..Just have tooo many semi .22's ehehe...

Mine is for sale actually...Let me know if interested! :)

I had a lakefield 64... looked good, cycled anything, but couldnt hit the broad side of a barn at 25m with it. Sold it, as somebody here's sig line says "only accurate guns are interesting".

I adore my 64's!

Have owned a few different models...still have my original Cooey64 I bought 25 years ago and, still my fav. Something has to be said for a model that's still in production 50+ years running.

I didn't always love my Cooey...I hated it passionately for years. I then got "clued in" about:
i) Ammo fussy...pick a bad ammo and, have a bad day
ii) You have to clean them every 500-1000 rds or, have a bad day
iii) I only lubricate the internals for storage/rust prevention. .22 gunk will mung up an oiled receiver and, have a bad day.

Cheap, dead simple to takedown and, clean. For accuracy, hitting clays laid out at 100yds is no challenge.

Currently have m' ol Cooey and, a 64FSS...I bought the stainless model during my " I wish to own a .22 younger than me" kick.
