Any experience with Wheellocks???

I am planning on building a replica of and early German wheellock musket, and I am just wondering if anyone has ever had any experience with them. I have wanted a wheellock for a long time, but am wondering about the actual building of the lock itself, and also the reliability of the lock.

You may be able to find an already assembled period-correct wheel-lock mechanism at such places as track of the wolf ...

I played with one scratch built by a belgian gunsmith... It is a somewhat complexe mechanism to build and a bit capricious too... Shooting it was fun but getting good sparks was a problem with flints and pyrite was not sparking at all. What I ended up doing was using one of those sparkler from a welding torch igniter... Worked everytime and they are cheap!
