Looking for something that will be free floating and be near barrel length. These look comfortable? Other option would be any tubular forend, as I am not interested in a full quadrail setup except for the top rail of course. And to be able to put small rail sections if I want to add an accessory.

I like mine. They are very slender (almost too slender), and without a vertical grip I find mine gets hot on the bottom. While they have the forend itself, they don't seem to be able to get the rails that attach to the forend, so in order to add anything, you will need to modify someone another makers rail like a Magpul. I shoot off a rest so the rail isn't an issue

I do love the looks of the Diamondhead of course. Realistically, I am not taking my AR to war, it just gets to play at the range, so it doesn't have to be incredibly practical, just be comfortable and look good.

I have the full length one I picked up from OST. Love it. Can't say enough good things about it.

The barrel nut is large and installs well. It's a hex nut, so a 1 and 1/4 crows foot will do the job nicely. You do not need to index the gas tube with this nut as well. Rail is solid and lined up perfect. I have a one piece Sphur mount that bridges the gap with no issues.

Rifle shoots well enough to win several matches at NSCC. Very comfortable to hold and shoot.

I had no problem finding the rail sections at The Gun Centre in KW. They also sell Diamond Head

I would prefer not to have to modify it if at all possible. I am also looking at the Samson Evolution series.

iirc, the magpul L3, and L5 moe rails fit just fine.

I'm very happy with my 10.25" DH. Fit perfectly, and as mentioned the barrel nut makes the install easy, and solid.

I'm considering the VRS model. So under what conditions (rounds/time frame) do the forends start to get too hot as mentioned?
I prefer no vertical grip.

I have the T model on my Armalite AR15. Just had it installed. It's pretty nice.

On a side note I contacted Diamondhead a few weeks ago with regards to a version for the DPMS GII 308. They advised they will be releasing a 308 version in a few months. Sort of an updated version of the Badger Ordnance handguard on my Canadian DND AR10 rifles. Would be a good choice for making a target AR308 look a bit cooler.

I had a 10 inch on my 10.5 AR and it was an awesome rail. Fit great, was solid as a rock, lined up perfectly and looked great. Ill second the info that a magpul rail fits perfectly. I used an L5 on mine and mounted just a forward grip. Very very comfortable. Worth every penny.

I have the 13.5 rail and it's super comfortable. I really like it.

Very nice handguard, I like mine a lot. Very secure locking system so it's tough as nails.

As for rail sections, some of the Magpul poly rail sections fit, as well as the MDT Tactical rail sections as they have a 40mm hole to hole spacing. (the magpul ones are either 40mm, or 81mm so the longer sections are a whee bit tight, but will fit on without modifying)

I have 2 of the 5" MDT rails on my diamondhead handguard, one on the bottom and one on the left side for the light. If using all 3 holes; it's a little tight but will thread in.

One thing to keep in mind, is that the side rails will not sit 100% perpendicular to the threads, so loc-tite is a must when installing on a side section, and only torquing so much, or else you can damage the threads. The bottom one sits on just fine, loc-tite is good but you don't have to worry about it.
