Any Farmers in Ottawa Area willing to let us hunt for rabbits on your field?

Speaking of meeting people on this forum, I had the absolute pleasure of flying out last summer to meet fellow wheelie and super gun nut Bartok5 in real life. He is an awesome guy and I got lots of respect for him for inviting me out to chat guns with him.

Would like to see more of that kind of friendliness on here, and less of the guys who have a "oh u have a bad trader rating" superiority complex.

I hate when people say I'm "confined" to my wheelchair when it's the very thing that gives me mobility. I can do anything. In fact, I just came back from an International Olympic trap tournament in Italy not too long ago. Anyone can pull a trigger. I probably do more, work more, and travel more than the average able-bodied man, so no, I'm not "confined" to my wheelchair.

I always hunt with friends and they help me retrieve game if it's not in an accessible spot I can roll to with my power assist.

Word of advice, don't ask wheelchair users if they're "confined" to their wheelchairs. We hate it when people say that.

No offense meant. I was just curious as to the circumstances.

Given the current environmental conditions I would imagine that mobility would be difficult in a farmers field.

It's fine, just making you aware so you know what not to say.

Yes, I hate the snow with a passion. Will likely wait for next hunting season to start hunting. I just recently got my hunting license and a Savage .17 HMR to prepare myself for the rabbit and grouse.

Just trying to line things up so that we have a nice plot of land we can hunt next season and not have to worry about terrain.

I spent some time living near grafton area in Ontario. I seam to remember that the provincial park (Presqu'ile)allow duck hunting.
Same with darlington. Note sure what’s available around Ottawa but it’s worth checking if the provincial parks have a controlled waterfowl hunt

Migratory bird, when I worked in the Winchester area over to Orleans the snow geese numbers are crazy and they are the most damaging of the geese.

Have you ever hunted waterfowl or just offering the advice? The area you are quoting as far as private lands are concerned is heavily vested in lease holdings by outfitters and hunting groups. You're going to have a hard time gaining access to hunt. Those farmers who need the snow geese removed as you put it are for the most part pretty unconcerned over geese eating leftover waste from harvesting especially when being paid a pretty fair dollar to keep others from busting birds out of their rented fields...to the casual observer seeing huge concentrations of birds in areas they are working or travelling through does not always equate to an open door policy to hunt. Just saying...

Your right I was in the area temporarily (thank god I hate everything about the area and the people) and I’m just an ignorant casual observer. Your advise sounds like some defeatist left coast nonsense=hard time just give up . Just saying….

Hey common now. Everyone need to feel good about themselves lol.

I think it was a valid question (or an important details)
- When chasing hares in the winter, that's what comes to my mind...

Also to everyone bashing on my trader rating, the system is flawed and it's too bad there's no way to have feedback removed. Most of the negatives or neutrals are guys pissed off that I won't pay their asking price after negotiations. On gun post, the story is different, if you search up my username there you will see that I am a 5-star seller with over 20 reviews. I find CGN is full of a lot of people who think they know everything, with a carrot stuck up their rear end. Another one of the negative feedbacks came from me pulling out of a deal because my car broke down, and the seller on the other side straight up refused to refund me. So I left a bad review for him, and in retaliation, he did the same.

Sure trader ratings can be a good indicator of how reliable someone is, but I would take it with a grain of salt.

The trader rating system isn’t flawed, do some reading. A seller can’t give a negative rating. If one does, have it removed.

Okay but what does being "confined" to a wheelchair even f0cking mean? Like are you asking if I can stand up and walk? If so, just ask me if I can walk. I hate this ableist attitude I have to deal with every single f0cking day with able-bodied people making me feel like sh1t with their line of questioning.

When a disabled person tells you they don't want to hear certain language being used, maybe think about how it makes us feel before you go off on your ableist rhetoric. I hate being asked if I'm "confined", and that's what I'm trying to convey. Shame you don't have a high enough IQ to understand that.

I'VE TRIED. I'VE USED THE REPORT FUNCTION MULTIPLE TIMES. It's like the reports land in some inbox that is never even checked. Also what are you talking about, of course a seller can leave a negative rating. Looks like you're the one who needs to do the reading.

just for precision:
https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/faq.php?faq=new_faq_item#faq_cgn_exchange_rules

Only 1 feedback can be made for each transaction by each party;
Neutral feedback can be left by both the buyer or the Seller where there is a recognized transaction, when one party backs out of a verbal agreement and the timing of delivery of funds has been specified at the time of the acceptance of the offer;
Only the Buyer can initiate Negative Feedback. A Seller can only respond with a neutral feedback after a negative feeback is left by the buyer. The Seller cannot initiate a negative feedback;
Negative feedback can only be left by the buyer in the following circumstances:
There must be an agreed date of delivery before funds are accepted, and the delivery date is not met; It is the responsibility of the buyer to obtain a date of delivery before sending funds;
Items delivered do not agree to the conditions posted;
All feedback must be left within 30 calendar days after the mutually agreed to date of delivery;
Fraud can be reported to the Fraud Reporting Forum, in accordance with the guidelines of fraud reporting;
All negative feedback must be accompanied by comments which detail the transactions and reasons for the feedback;

Please read the trader rating rules and you’ll see for yourself. And yes you can get it removed but not the way you thought.

Well you could have if you’d read the rules and done it in time…

What would you have us ask then? Seems like a respectful question to me? I guess it would sound nicer if I asked "is that permanently attached to your ass? You call us disrespectful and want respect, earn it! It's not given out freely just because you are physically challenged. I hear people with disabilities saying all the time they don't want special treatment yet as soon as it suits their purpose, example not getting a warm reception for a place to hunt out comes the trump card, "I'm in a wheelchair". Got news for you, it's not a trump card in my world. Funny it wasn't mentioned until about 40-50 posts in? I'm a trapshooter too and I've shot with many physically challenged shooters over the years. Some were nice folks, some were not but I always treated them the way I would anyone else, no sugar coating. I treat everyone equally. As for the trader rating I use it for it's intended purpose for the most part, purchasing, selling and trading but if a person has a poor trader rating it usually is a good indicator of a persons moral compass. As for ####### I don't go near it, I see lots on there who are nefarious for lousy ratings here with good ratings on there including a few members who lost EE privilidges here!

Yeah he sure seems like the non committal type

Actually he kind of reminds me or seems like that fellow on here a number of years back. Young fellow, early 20's if you can believe what he posted that was full of all kinds of questions regarding guns, hunting etc who had a few issues with the EE and eventually too announced he was in a wheelchair. Same MO. He was eventually banned and resurfaced under a different username but it was picked up on fairly quick as his behaviour and style of posting were identical. He disappeared shortly after, cannot recall if he was banned. Been a long time since anyone resembling him has been posting here and now we have almost the same MO again and same province of origin though I think the first two times around he was southeastern Ontario Niagara region if memory serves? Might be the same fellow now a decade or so later. The excuses and behaviour are a darned near perfect match.

Dude (or 'mam... sorry if I assume your gender)
- I couldn't care less if you are in a wheelchair or not... I just thought it was a piece of information that might be important to know... Just like any physical limitation relating to physical shape and age. In this next of the wood, when I go after hares (and birds) it's usually on mountain side... not exactly somewhere I'd take my father (who's getting old) or anyone not in excellent physical shape. Too many chances or tripping and falling... and having to extract someone out of the wood is not my definition of fun.
- I'd recommend some logging roads or more easily accessible area.

The same thing could be said about going to shoot competition.
- A shooting buddy is confined to a wheelchair, if/when he's interested in shooting a match I probably won't recommend a range where we'd have to carry him up 3 flight of stairs (when there are other venu more easily accessible)

I (and most folks on CGN) couldn't care less about your physical condition or limitation. But your physical condition or limitation will have a impact on the recommendations you will receive.
- If we'd be face to face, some "constraint" (or whatever the politically correct term is) would be more obvious and the question more precise. Looking at your avatar, we've got not no way of knowing or your limitations.

We've taken paraplegic out rowing... but we sure as hell didn't send them out on the water a competition scull.
We've taken blind individual biking... but we didn't send them alone on a bike down mainstreet
