Title says it all: I'm looking for hands-on opinions on Bushnell's Elite 4200 4-16x40 Side Focus. Anyone on this?

I just got this particular scope and the optics are pretty decent, I have a number of high end scopes (Leupold/Swarovski/S&B) and this one obviously isn't in the same class as those one but it is pretty bright until you get past 14x - at 14-15-16x it is workable but not ideal probably because it has only a 40mm objective. The reticle is fine enough for precision shooting. It is a really long scope however I noticed that this is the case with most of the Elites... If I had to pick between this scope and the Leupold VXII 4-12x40mm AO (close to the same price) I probably would go with the Leupy as I like the clarity of the optics but this is definitely no slouch... I put it on my Sako Quad.
Bassman: The OP is asking about the AO model (SF - I assume he is referring to the Side Focus) which as you aptly described freakishly long. For light work like a rimfire it is pretty good as it has all the nice features that say something like Nikon has but definitely has better coatings. I looked through the Nikon equivalent from the Phillipines and man that scope is not very good (IMHO) it may be cheaper but you can really see the difference.
