Any feedback/reviews on DLASK 1911 or recommendations on 1911 between $1500 - $2000?

CGN'ers,
I'm planning to pick up a higher end semi-custom 1911 .45 and have started my research. I already have a SAM 1911 Tactical Commander and an HK45 but have always wanted a "better" 1911. My budget is betweeen $1500 and $2000 so am looking at the Springfield TRP or Trophy Match, Kimber Warrior or Custom, Colt XSE. I noticed that DLASK offers 1911 but have little information about them.

Anyone care to share any firsthand reviews or reports about it?

Any other 1911 I should consider in my budget (Ed Browns and Nighthawk customs are out) maybe a used Les Baer?

My Dlask is a year old have ~1500 rounds through it runs excellent. Not one issue with it from day 1. It's a keeper , thinking about getting a stainless one later this year. I know some guys will say spend $200-400 more and buy "this" but I'm super happy with the finished gun, and dealing with Dlask was easy and a 3 month turn around for a finished piece.
 
I've had a Dlask 6" for about 3 years. I'm very pleased with it. I use it in PPC competition and have shot 560/600 with it at 50 yards. A better shot could do much better with it.
 
I have heard nothing but good things about Dlask products.

But remember you are buying a custom made gun and down the road if you decide to sell, it may turn out to be a lot harder to sell it.

It is my experience that guns that are keep exactly the way they came from the factory are generally way easier to sell.

Might want to check out the Dan Wesson line as well, they have a few 1911s in your price range that usually get pretty good reviews. I have one, (pointman 7) and love it but it's the only 1911 I have so can't really compare it to anything...
 
I recently bought a Colt Series 70 Government Wiley Clapp edition for about 1700$ (shipped and taxed). It seems these are made from Colt custom shop. I can tell you it is VERY tight, well finished and in also VERY accurate ( match barrell). The only thing is I swapped the wooden grips for Pachmayr wrap arounds as the checkering is a bit agressive for the hands.

if/when i ever buy a high(er) end 1911 im gonna pick up a Dlask.
from everything ive read and the research i did looking into mid range 1911's i was very impressed with that i was getting back from people about them.

just need to save up $2k to do it..... and there is so much temptations out there that call when you are saving up
 
Get a colt first either gold cup or the wiley clapp. trust me, you still want a colt even if you already have those custom 1911s. For custom 1911, all i want is the springfield pro above all custom 1911 out there.

STI makes many good guns that are in your specified price range. IMO, STI makes the highest quality 1911's short of $3,000+ semi-customs and customs. I would stay away from Colt. Their quality is not what you'd expect given the pice. No experience with Dlask.
 
I have three Dlask 1911 9mm,40s&w,45acp and another on the way in 10mm they are by far the best deal out there on a custom 1911 especially with or tanking dollar any other American custom gun would be double the price.I will try and post some pictures
 
None of the brands mentioned are custom hand fitted using the highest quality parts. Work the slide on a Dlask and look for play. There is none. The trigger is the best part. Like breaking a very fine glass rod. Wessons, Colts, and especially Kimber's will not do that. Only the custom Ed Browns or Wilson's will be on par at double the price.

I had to come back to add, the STI Trojan will come close to the fit and finish but not close for the trigger. It has some very custom features like under cut trigger guard and forward serrations on the slide. Nice chain link "checkering" too.
