Any Gophers Near Calgary Yet?

I know it's early, but it's been six months of snow. The little guys must be getting hungry. Anybody seen them yet?

I counted 15 of them running around on top of the snow here a few weeks ago near my place. They are definitely up and around when the sun shines.

There are lots at my place, but I refer to this time as gopher planting season... Soon, when the young uns come up, will be gopher harvest season...

Thinking the numbers have been declining for the last few years. "Climate Change" hasn't been kind to them. Still a lot of snow and the fields are very wet.

Well in this part of south western Alberta they have been out for a month, even with the snow.

Shot over 100 of them this weekend north of Lloydminster. They've been up and about up here for a month, I'm sure they have been out down there for longer. Just males out right now, little ones should be out in a couple weeks.
