Any Gun Clubs in North York (Toronto)

"...most ranges have range officers for people like me..." It's not about the legality of you shooting. It's about you're being a minor whose parents won't go with you.
All ranges in TO, including the one above Hutchinson's Tank, just west of Dufferin and Finch, are rented by private shooting clubs every night of the week. None of 'em are open 24 hours or are businesses. There are none that rent firearms to anybody. Most of the clubs are likely open to new members, but not a minor without at least one parent becoming members too.
Take cyclone's generous offer.

Hey Stormbringer,

Here is a young guy who doesn't seem to be stupid. He had/has a tough childhood. So instead of biting down his head just tell him if he wants to know somebody just read that person's previous hundreds of posts. As I did with you when I carefully checked out your posts before I took my brand new first rifle to sigh in to you. :)

NeverGiveUp,
If you make it to Silverdale somehow on a Saturday, I'm there between 12-2pm, you can try out a few of my rifles, just pm me before.

Rudi

Hey Rudi I offered to help from the get go but that does not seem to matter.

There seems to be no way to reconcile the problems inherent in the situation.

How is that rifle now?

It is wonderful. :)
I just had to change the bushnell scope on it to a burris with longer eye relieve after it cut my forehead 2x and another guy I let try it ended up with two stitches for the same reason. (the browning bar shorttrack is too light for the 270wsm)

Yeah, sometimes not easy to help people. :)

How about the guy who just VOLUNTEERED to spend HIS TIME

and HIS GAS

and use HIS guns?

Take cyclone's generous offer.

Wow, guys! I'm sincerely touched: you are too kind ..

Anyhow, the offer is still open. I remember how there weren't many in my community (in all senses of that word) who owned or even used firearms, how odd it was to find my own way (though aided and abetted by the kindness of strangers throughout); I just wanted to help out, if I could.

Unless you don't like JPFO members...:p

:D;):)

That's very generous Cyclone but personally, I would not be taking a minor anywhere without his parent's permission, least of all a shooting range. Do you want some psycho anti calling the cops to your doorstep after they find out? If I were the parent, I wouldn't be too pleased about another adult colluding with my kid to undermine my authority. Imagine if your kids were sneaking out to post NDP law signs ;)

I feel bad for the kid but the parents either have to know, or he's going to have to practice the virtue of patience until he is 18. Their house, their rules.

Thank you all for the offer, but now with my situation, I think it will be a while before I shoot. Most people here have been very nice and thank you for that. But for now I need to deal with a few problems that limit my access to firearms/ ranges. Parents, money, busy with school and license. When I first go ill post a thread.

The reason I did pick this user name has to do with that. I saw my friend log in and I got an idea. When I logged in I wanted to see this.

That's so inspirational, angels wept as I read it! :D

My tip to you is, save up a couple hundred bucks and go do your CFSC/CFRSC courses, then fill out the (adult) application using your friends as references. On the day of your 18th birthday, mail it in. Demonstrate to your parents the lengths you are willing to go through to be able to handle firearms safely, and stress the fact that you are undergoing an RCMP background check to be able to receive the license.

Step by step, push back the tide of ignorance.

I think I will just have to do everything in secrecy. But thanks for the tips. I am kind of pissed, I am still locked out of the off topic forum.

That's what I did. Didn't tell anyone I took the courses until after I did it. Sent off my application with friends as references instead of my parents. Bought a safe without letting anyone know until I pulled up to my door. Bought a rifle online that nobody knew about until I took it out. And hey look, guns in the house now. :D

Trying to get my 10 year old brother to learn how to handle the thing safely...
