any idea what caused these impressions the brass?

Was shooting the other day and while taking a break, I noticed this piece of discarded brass on the ground. I am a little stumped as to what would cause these marks on the brass. There are 8 perfectly straight lines, all a little different in length, but all stop roughly half way down the case. The lines are raised from the rest of the shell, maybe a few thousands of an inch, high enough to easily catch your nail. There is plenty of carbon, but it does not appear that either the shell or primer is perforated. Calliber is .223. Thoughts?

 
If you ever turned the gas off on an M14 or pulled the piston on an SKS to shoot it single shot, you can feel how much the case sticks when the action has low camming extraction. I'm sure it helps the PAR run smoother.
 
Likely fired from a HK 630, as it is one of the few rifles of this design allowed out of captivity. This is easily confirmed by the extractor damage to the rim and stove piping of the case body. :eek: The carbon is a design function of using gas pressure to release the brass from the fluting after peak.

Although wonderfully accurate and dead reliable, the 630's roller delayed blowback system with the noted fluted chamber(further delaying extraction) is anything but reloader friendly.

I tried; very aggravating.
 
They throw brass the hottest and furthest, absolutely sing they spin so fast. 20yds or more and you can stack them in a 3 ft circle. Can be entertaining. :evil:
