i took the dogs out shed hunting a couple days ago and the beagle tracked down a possum that had been killed. the possum was on a well used deer trail and was laying perfectly on its back and had all its guts removed. all of the ribs were chewed down to the same length and it was a rather neat job of eating the guts and ribs.

any ideas what might have done this? i figured a yote or hawk would have eaten some meat instead of a only the guts

Many predators will go for the innards first; apparently they're chock-full of vitamins (ick). Think liver-&-onions, on the rare side.

Could have been one of many kinds of birds...but most likely a hawk, owl, or crows/ravens. I know every time I ever came across crows eating an animal, they ate the guts and the eyes first.
