Scoping a SVT without alteration is not really cheap. If your SVT have the scope grooves on each sides but no notch on top like the ex-sniper, a sniper repro mount+scope could still work, you could drill and tap the mount and use set screws to lock it on the rifle so the rifle would not be altered in any way. Also, P&S militaria, had a mount with weaver base that slide on the sides grooves and tightened with screws but that mount is not on the P&S website anymore so i dont know who have it or if the mount is still made and i dont know if that mount worked well. As for ejection, the SVT eject on the side so maybe a deflector isnt absolutely required.Would a mount that replaces the rear sight on the rifle be a possibility for this rifle? It works for the VZ-58, Lee Enfields etc. Is there one built that can fit the SVT-40?
Here is the mount that people have posted about:

It is very tight, so I might recommend lubing the rails. The other issue is cleaning it afterwards. If you use surplus ammo you need to thoroughly clean after shooting and that would require removing the mount.
Will any 30mm tubed scope fit on the repro scope mount? I was thnking about a POSP or something along those lines.
