Any ideas on improving the T97 iron sights?

I think this could work good, but as you said, I am not sure how much room is left to drill and tap. As soon as I find a spare set of irons I am going to look into this.

That's not a bad idea if there is enough room. I think Williams makes a rear peep sight with thread in aperture's. If you could find one and thread it in you'd have a sweet sight. Wouldn't be able to flip to any of the others but they probably wouldn't be needed any more.

Yes, this is what I am finding. I was considering JB welding the sides, do you have any pics of your rubber Dam?

Sorry, I tossed it when I mounted the picatinny adapter. :(

It was cut like an inverted "U" and was a simple compression fit between the aperture and the carry handle sides to block off light from either side of the aperture.

I tried a fiber optic front sight on mine. Didn't really help me because that rear aperture just seemed wonky. In order to use it I really had to get right in close so I'd get smacked in the glasses by the rear of the handle every time I fired. I ended up opening up the rear aperture a tiny bit and it helped. But like others here, I decided the best improvement to the sights was to hacksaw them off.

300 bucks to have to butcher your rifle and get a totally ugly and inappropriate charging handle thing. Yeah nty.
