I recently recieved these rings from someone on the board and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on who made them. The only markings on them is "Australia". They are 30mm rings and they fit my CZ 550 Mauser 98 action.

Thanks to the two members who passed these eventually on to me. Thanks guys, I will put them to good use :)

Sorry, I allready took the pics down but a very nice guy that posts here from Australia posted the same question on an Australian board and I have now found out that they are made by a company called Hillver.

They look almost identical to the Lynx rings, but he has assured me if they say Australia on them they are most definately made by Hillver. Lynx rings are made in Japan from what I am told.

Thanks again guys

And thanks to Kombi1976 for looking into that for me :D

.. could be... but I just pulled out a couple of pairs of rings like those in your photo (a one piece base set up and a 2 piece base) that also say Tasco and Australia on them as well as few sets of rings (different style) in green BRNO boxes market "TETRA" and (made in Australia) and the Lynx I mentioned before also marked "Australia". It would not surprise me if they are all made in Japan and labeled Australia for resale..perhaps Hillver is the importer....we may find that Lynx and Hillver are one and the same in the end fwiw

here's an interesting commentary form another site..
B-square bought all the fixtures, blueprints, & intellectual properties of tetra, an australian company. i met the owners of that company 'way back, & their design was tested in the labs of hawker-siddley aero., it was found that the stud-type rings used on typical hunting rifles would (EACH RING) withstand from 4,000 to just over 5,000Lbs. of force before failure. no US made ringset will come CLOSE to that. so impressed were the pro-hunters of africa w/this setup, that the hillver-lynx line accounted for something like 90% of all base-ring sales on that continent within 90 days of their introduction there. and B-square is still working hard to catch up w/the ongoing demand. another thing, this company was the first to design a one-piece base that utilized all 4 screws; as soon as that base came out, ALL the US makers quietly did the same. B-suare has started to make some further refinements in material, etc. so i think you couldn't go wrong with that choice!!!!

Well, it's entirely possible that Hillver was the sales name used for Tetra products. I do know that I have a Lynx mount on my ShtLE 303/25 and it has Hillver rings on it. It's solid as a rock.
