Have you competed in IPSC? IDPA looks cool as well.

There may be something known as "NRA action" at the Springfield range this year. Uses pistols and barricades. I'm not up on the details.

tried ipsc a few times ,up in my area charlo /miramichi an such , just not into the space lookin race guns.....want more practical out of the box, simple yet challenging realistic style shoots, ( im a law enforcement guy, lookin fer better practise, than the regular, annual stand in line shoot at paper stuff ) if no idpa around would do ipsc, but not my 1st kick.
were is this the springfield range...........im up in BATHURST NB ok/
ps.........

there are many IPSC shooters in Dalhousie, In Miramachi there is a LEO at Atlantic Institution that shoots IPSC. Space guns are in Open. You aren't classed with them. Production is as simple as it gets, standard is a 1911 style game, everything except the optical sights and Comp's.

leo is on the local town P.D. & a great guy......
miramichi an charlo are both exellent club s
too bad the registery is in miramichi, it was SUCH A NICE town before they moved in.

When I said LEO, I meant Law Enforcement Officer at Atlantic, his name is in the PM I sent you.

in all honesty IDPA and IPSC are almost the same when it comes to the gear (production and stock service pistol) and the types of stages that are shot. One big difference is that in IDPA a lot of the rules that are applied, are more opinion of the RO than anything else, not necessarily had and fast easy to apply rules.

I still don't understand why a person would be penalized for dropping a near empty mag. (every game has its rules though)
I like the rule of using cover and no race holsters. Very similiar to USPSA production for holsters.

I like that option as well. The IDPA helps to keep the arms race under control. IPSC is getting to be a sport of very expensive guns and gear.

I want to give both sport a fair shot. ;)

for how much you spend it is cheap in production IF you limit your spending. the fancy holsters and mag pouches I have are a personal preference. IN production you can be very competitive with a glock, a bladetech holster and mag pouches. Most money is spent in Open, and then standard, then production. (on average)
