Any info on TCR 22 rifles?

I figured that the rimfire forum would be a good place to pose this question:

I remember that it wasn't that long when retailers were selling these TCR 22 combos with case & red dot, for what I thought was a very reasonable price.

Ever since then, it is like the TCR rifles fell off the face of the earth.
Nobody has them in stock, nobody talks about them and the odd one that pops up on GP here and there has usually an attached price tag, that is way above and beyond what I would be willing to pay for it.
I mean as cool and inovative as it is, it's still just a 10/22 in disquise.

Does anyone know what the background story is with these, as far as the dealer re-stocking/importation/availability is concerned?

They're very good guns for starters, and I don't know the story. I think when the 10/22 patent expired, TC were among those who made a clone. Theirs with improvements. I heard the gun was being discontinued, then I heard TC was in trouble, then read that TC was bought by Smith & Wesson, etc. Looks as though there are T/CR22 rifles listed, I'd suggest you contact whoever distributes S&W?

From what I've read, there are 10/22 parts that work in these guns, I know the mags do. The T/CR22 mag is their own, but a quirkier version of the BX-10 that allows for last-shot-bolt-hold-open. 10/22 Trigger spring kits like MCARBO are compatible.

Polymer stock is a bit flimsy, but these are not bench guns. The ergonomics are fantastic, and the rifle has a very light feel. Peep sights are excellent too, and the ones I've seen actually line-up.

Nice rifles, and I'm not a semi guy.

If you check the Rimfire Central forum I think you will find that these guns were rife with problems; it was apparently uncommon to get one that actually functioned properly. I recall checking into it there when I was toying with the idea of getting one, and quickly changing my mind.

Maybe TC made a couple of different .22 semiautos? Maybe I have the wrong TC rimfire? I don't know, and don't care enough now to do the research...but someone who is thinking about one of these should definitely check up on them thoroughly.

Awesome rifle. Shoots CCI SV real well. Stock isn’t great but it works. The moment you apply pressure to the front end it flexes so a Pivoting Bipod or Shooting bags are a must. Don’t buy it if you ever plan to upgrade anything but the stock or maybe a trigger. Stock trigger is also better than standard 10/22. Muzzle device can be added for cool factor. The most utilitarian 10/22 you can buy off the shelf that’s completely OEM. Should’ve came with a true Magpul Hunter stock instead of the neutered version they made for T/C. The only gripe with upgrading the stock is you need an adjustable cheek riser or stick with a low one to keep the usability of the irons. I sent mine back to Wolverine Supplies with the front Sight Canted to the side and all they did was pull the barrel and reinstalled it to get it to match up. Not sure what happened at the factory but this seems to be the only common problem. I have not read, heard, or seen any issues. Sample size of 4 rifles I’ve seen with my own eyes at competition have all produced without hiccup. Would not hesitate to buy another. Wish I snagged the Heavy Barrel version without the irons sights that was on the EE awhile back for around 500 IIRC. The integrated Rail is cool but you need to figure out whether you will push it beyond 150m. If so you will require MOA added rings or a Riser. If your buying this rifle there’s a good chance your not gonna buy a 1500$ scope with 28mils of Elevation Adjustment to offset this issue.

Wasn't TC basically shut down by S&W? I have heard guys enjoying their TCR22's. Not much in the way of negative second hand reviews from local guys.
