Any interest in good quality doubles

I will prefer DTs to single trigger anytime be that sxs or o/u for that matter. No objection to extractors over ejectors as well. I own/use both types.

However, as far as an O/U is concerned, a shotgun minus the top vent rib looks, well, somewhat quite out of shape to me. IMO, that rib on an o/u establishes the sight plane effectively as well.

The only thing that I don't at all like on an o/u is the vent side rib. I find a vent rib on a sxs as quite grotesque.

A ribless o/u is not a common item. I've accepted the rib and don't think there's an advantage not having one.

I frequently use an o/u for clays so I want mine with a rib, single trigger and non-auto safety. For a sxs I prefer an auto safety, two triggers and a concave rib. Switching between the two types is not more difficult that going from a standard to an automatic transmission in a car. It's what you get used to.

However hand me a single trigger sxs and I'm constantly reaching for the none existent second trigger. If using a double trigger o/u with an auto safety and I'm constantly forgetting to flip off the safety and trying to bend the front trigger for the second shot.

I just bought a Beretta S 56E from Trade Ex. The first thing I am going to do to it is disable the auto safety. Then get the barrels opened up to skeet & skeet then put a recoil pad on it. Can't wait to try skeet for the first time.

Classic Doubles

Well as the fellow that started this thread it would be nice to see a section on quality doubles, double guns & even a few higher end singles for the purpose of talking, trading etc.One of the reasons I put this post out here was I had a W.C. Scott & Son 10 bore sidelock I was going to list but it never made the classifieds. But I am sure there are many like myself who enjoy trading in these fine arms. Tx.gollum

Ah ya, the SxS,
I have had a lot of doubles of the O/U persuasion and love em. Only one SxS have I owned, a 12 ga BSS with pistol grip( hell for stout but heavy as you can get ! ).
I fairly have lusted for many years for an English stocked 20 ga SxS but none have come my way here in the pump and auto meat gun capitol of Canada, lol.
I need a 20 ga BSS Sporter or Sidelock,(as if I could afford one at the prices one see for them( I drool and hate you Beaverskin for having 2!!) I'd take a Ithaca / SKB 280, Winney 23 ala Grande Canadian, or another non JABC of good quality. But first I have to try to close a deal for a 410 Superposed to go with the 12 and 20 no Idea where I'll find a 28 Super for an affordable price !

Tim.
